Welcome to the Elliott History Wiki!. This website was created by John Elliott in an attempt to catalog my family history, where it pertains to stuff that does not fit well into a genealogy program.
This is a wiki to catalog history of the Elliott and related families.
A major portion of this website is a set of biographies of people related to me, but it also includes a fairly extensive catalog of documents that was given to me by David Elliott, that also included documents from his parents and grandparents.
On the left sidebar, there is a link to the genealogy program that contains the information on the people I have researched. As of July 11th, 2025, it is empty, as I have not imported my data, but it will be done in time.

Storage Locations
The documents that are in the wiki are largely in the possession of John Elliott. A vast majority of them have been scanned in, and that work continues at varying rates. An even smaller portion of items such as letters has been transcribed from handwriting into text. For letters, that text is included on the relevant page.
The following binders for paper documents currently exist.
Documents Binder 1 - Letters, certificates, ephemera such as plane tickets, etc - All items have been scanned, converted to PDF, and transcription work for appropriate items such as letters is in progress
Documents Binder 2 - Letters, certificates, ephemera such as plane tickets, etc - All items have been scanned, converted to PDF. Transcription work not yet started.
Education Binder - Education-related materials - report cards, diplomas, ribbons, newspaper articles - All items scanned, not converted to PDF as of 05 July 2025.
Family History 3rd Party Binder - This is a collection of genealogy research that was not done by me, but by other people. It is there as a guide, I cannot guarantee it's accuracy.
Legal-size Documents Binder - As the name suggests, a binder that holds documents that are on legal-size paper - Scanned, converted to PDF, transcription not started.
Multi-page documents Binder - Self-explanatory - scanned, not converted to PDF as of 05 July 2025, transcription work not started.
David and Betty Elliott 50th Wedding Anniversary Card and Letters - none of these have been scanned as of 05 July 2025. Low priority.

Publications
The following written publications have aided in the research I have done.
History of Baxter County Centennial Edition 1873-1973, by Mary Ann Messick - info on the Neson side of the family, from William Nelson who served in the Civil War, to when some of his sons and grandsons left Arkansas to move to Texas.
History of San Patricio County, 1986, by Keith Guithrie - History of the Nelson family after they moved to Texas between 1905 and 1910.
Facts, Memories, and Thoughts About the Coltrin Family - Unknown compiler/Author - includes memories from quite a few of the Coltrin cousins, I suspect it was made around the time of the Coltrin Cousin reunion, that I don't even know the year of.
History of Hickory, Polk, Cedar, Dade, and Barton Counties, Missouri - 1889 - The Goodspeed Publishing Company, Chicago - This book I only have in digital form - it has a slightly different biography of the Nelson families in it from their time in Arkansas. It also has a few mentions of the Elliott surname, but further research is needed to see if they tie into the Elliotts that moved from Kentucky to Missouri, then to Texas.
Robbins Family Register - A family history written down by Opal Robbins in March, 1984. Includes information on the Robbins, Haney, Elliott, Burleson, and Smith families.
