My Elliot line originated from Cumberland County, Kentucky. A group of the family moved from there to Missouri.

One of the brothers, George W. Elliott, born in Kentucky, was widowed with two young sons, John Robert and Daniel in 1875 when his wife Martha E. Inks died. He remarried a young woman by the last name of Craig in September 1876. 3 days after the wedding, her father, who strongly disagreed with the marriage, shot and killed him on a train platform in Kansas. After his murder, George's mother took John and Daniel to Texas to live with her brother. She later died, and the boys moved to live with their Uncle Lewis.

John Robert had 6 children, one by his first wife Sarah Huchins, and 5 with his second wife, Maggie May Smith
