John was the son of George W (1846-1876) and Martha E Inks (1847-1875) Elliott. His mother died first and his father remarried. His new brides' father disagreed with the marriage and shot George dead three days after the wedding. George had two small children John and Daniel. George's mother took the two boys with her to Texas. The mother died and the boys went to live with their Uncle Lewis. They can be found in the 1880 Milam Co. Texas census.

John married Susan Ellen "Sarah" Hutchins on Mar 03 1893 in Bell Co. Texas. To this union issue was born.

Jeffie Jeanette 1894

Marriage ended in the death of Susan. John and Jeffie are found living with Susan's mother and brother on the 1900 Milam CO. Census.

John married Maggie Mae Smith Jones and to this union issue was born.

Maggie had a child from previous marriage when she married John.

John, Maggie, Harrell, Cecil and Clifton are buried in the family plot together.

In the 1910 Census Maggie states she had 6 children with 5 living.
